Calling Crystal Reports from Microsoft Dynamics GP

In this demo we will demonstrate how to create a sample crystal report for a GP database and then how to attach it to GP as a link.

Creating a Report

  • Go to File>>New>>Standard Report or press Ctrl+N .
  • Now a new window “Standard report creation wizard” will open.

  • Click on Create New Connection to get Tables or Stored Procedure.
  • I am using MS SQL server to get Data for report there for I select “OLE DB (ADO)”. Click on it.

  • Another window will open. Select your data provider.

  • Click Next and then Click Finish.
  • As you can see our database is now connected.
  • Next, select the table you wish to use in the report. In this example we are using the Customer Master Table.

  • After you have selected your table, click next. Now you can see the table’s fields.

  • Select all table or specific fields by clicking the “>” button and then click next.
  • Now select Group By Fields so your data report is better arranged.

  • Click next and go to the Template selection. I am using “Block (Bue)” for the report.

  • And click finish. In few seconds you have your final report.

  • Save the report.

 

Calling a Report from MS Dynamics GP

  • Open MS Dynamics GP

  • Go to the HOME navigation pane & right click.

  • Select Add > External Shortcut.
  • Click on the Browse button.

  • Select the appropriate file.

  • Enter Name and click the “Add” Button, then click “Done”.

  • Your Report will appear in the Home Navigation Pane.

Add a report in Quick link

  • Go to Quick Link and click on the Change Details button.

  • This will open the Quick Link Detail window

  • Click on the Add button > External Program or File.
  • The add External Program window will open.

  • Click on the Browse button.
  • Select the appropriate File.

  • Enter the Name & click ok.

  • The report will now be added to Quick Links

  • Click on report. And you are finished!
