Google Latitude and Longitude Tools

Trying to find the latitude and longitude of a specific point or address can be frustrating, but I have found a few tools useful in providing this information so that you can populate the latitude and longitude fields in a SharePoint list to plot markers. The tools that I have found to be most useful are:

Another trick, if you are plotting Google map markers on land, you can send an address to the Google geocoder and it will return a point (latitude and longitude) and plot the marker:

Example:

function showAddress(address, theName) {
var geocoder = new GClientGeocoder();
geocoder.getLatLng(
address,
           function(point) {
                if (!point) {
           alert(address + " not found");
                } else {
           var marker = new GMarker(point, { title: theName });
           map.addOverlay(marker);
                }
           }
     );
}
